Today was all about beachin’! Monopoli doesn’t have a ton of public beaches, so we had to shell out quite a bit of coin to go to a “Beach Club” which was about 20 minutes from town by Uber.

Apparently, it’s a thing here and people reserve summer weekends way ahead of time, so we were late to the game, but found a gorgeous place that gave us towels, chairs, umbrellas, and most importantly - a sandy beach on the Adriatic Sea.

We got there around 11am and soaked up the sun till around 5pm where our Uber driver we met the night before picked us up with her mother in the front seat. Pretty funny, actually - she picked us up and in her broken English said “mama is here!” We were happy to see both of them! They were both extremely friendly.

Once home, we toyed with the idea of cooking home but after failing to find a grocery store that was open late on a Sunday night (Europe on Sundays after 1pm are desolate lands of no-produce), we each just got a calzone/pizza thing and at it on a curb in Old Town Monopoli, which seemed like a very fitting way to finish off our time in this area.
Tomorrow we are headed to Positano, on the other coast! But wait, our driver canceled on us?!?! What do we do? Read next for the answer to the cliffhanger of how to get 3 hours across the country…(cue theme music)
