Day 10 (London) – “Wow, most people don’t eat that much.” (said the waiter to me as he took my plate.) “I think he just called me fat.” (I responded to Dave.)

Sorry for no post yesterday, it wasn’t much fun.
Yesterday the weather was miserable and we were able to find every part of London that was crowded with people. We tried Harrod’s (the good part is that Tsana got some instant snow stuff that will ROCK to play with..she is using the excuse for therapy, but I think it is really for her)…we also tried Covent Gardens, which was actually pretty cool. The shops and chocolate shop (MMMMM – Thorntons!), was great, but still millions of people were there. We also tried to go to Notting Hill, but nothing was open – but it was a great relief from the crowds.
A cool chandelier shop we saw in Notting Hill - I thought the presentation was stunning…and ironically (or not so much), there was a competing chandelier shop two shops away. 🙂
Finally, we actually ate at this great restaurant called “The Real Greek,” which I’m sure, tips you off that it probably isn’t real at all – but it was pretty good (although no Greektown).
Today we woke up with barely enough time to make it out to see the changing of the guard. Unfortunately everybody else was there too and we weren’t really able to see much. Tsana got a few good pictures by basically trapezing herself up on one of the gates and holding on to my head for dear life while she took a few shots – not bad, but not great. We then took a walk through St. James park and made our second trip to Harrods for lunch, but weren’t prepared to pay $150 so we left. We found another place that was still pretty expensive but a lot better atmosphere. It was actually pretty funny because Dave stated that “we couldn’t have chosen a trendier place if we tried,” which was true, and needless to say we were totally out of place. The coolest part though was this awesome Watermelon fizz drink I got, with a massive piece of watermelon as a garnish – mmmm!
We got fed up with the crowds again and decided to go back to the hotel for awhile. We then ventured out to find a Grenadier Guard (these are the guys with the big funny hats), but had no luck as they had taken the day off (didn’t know they could do that and make their own hours) and finally ended up at the London Eye (the big Ferris wheel). This was one of the coolest things we did and London and really raised our spirits about London.
Dave was super excited about riding the London Eye!
After that we found a pub and I had a Guinness and then some late night grub at this place that was similar to Denny’s – and yes, had equally as gross as food. Regardless, it was better than yesterday in the rain.
Tomorrow…Destination: Stonehenge!!!
